Harlem Brownstone

The owners of this lovely but run-down Harlem Brownstone approached Bespoke Architecture to help them restore and update this gracious building with original details, into a two family home for their multi-generational family.

BA created an elegant, spacious and light-filled triplex home on the top three floors. Restoring much of the original detail, but bringing the home in line with more contemporary living, flow and amenities.  For the main Triplex unit, BA opened up the grand Parlor floor from a dark narrow hallway into an expansive kitchen at the heart of the home.  BA created a rear deck with stairs down to the rear garden to enhance the connection to outside.  Throughout the Triplex new bathrooms, closets, and finishes bring the home into the 21st Century, while preserving and restoring the turn of the century floors, fireplaces, stairs and millwork maintain a grandeur and luxury of an age gone by.  All new Plumbing, Electrical, Heating and Air-Conditioning systems were installed throughout the home.

On the Garden floor, BA created a comfortable, luxurious apartment with a connection to the outside and an efficient cozy layout for the Owner’s parents to have a close, but independent living arrangement for the family.
